TVS Motor’s Orbiter electric scooter recorded 14,641 units in August 2026, contributing nearly 25% of the company’s electric two-wheeler dispatches during the month.
TVS reported 59,453 electric two-wheeler sales in August. That means the Orbiter accounted for approximately 24.6% of the company’s monthly electric volume, making it an important contributor alongside the established TVS iQube.
TVS electric sales accelerate
TVS Motor’s electric two-wheeler sales increased by approximately 137% year over year in August 2026. The sharp increase reflects stronger demand for electric scooters as purchase prices move closer to comparable petrol models and buyers pay greater attention to running costs.
The Orbiter’s performance also suggests that TVS is beginning to build a broader electric-scooter portfolio instead of depending on a single model family.
TVS Orbiter specifications
The Orbiter is positioned as a practical family electric scooter. Its key specifications include:
- Battery options of 1.8kWh and 3.1kWh
- Claimed IDC range of 92km for the 1.8kWh version
- Claimed IDC range of 158km for the 3.1kWh version
- Top speed of 68km/h
- An 845mm-long seat
- SmartXonnect connected features
- Multiple colour choices
With the standard 650W charger, TVS claims a 0–80% charging time of 2 hours and 20 minutes for the smaller battery and 4 hours and 10 minutes for the 3.1kWh version.
Why 14,641 units matter
A strong contribution from the Orbiter gives TVS an additional growth engine in the competitive Indian electric-scooter market. The company can also support the model through its established dealership and service network, an advantage as buyers increasingly consider after-sales availability before choosing an EV.
Electric scooters represented approximately 22% of India’s overall scooter market in August 2026, showing how quickly battery-powered models are moving into the mainstream.
BestEV view
The Orbiter’s August result is a promising sign for TVS. Its longer-term success will depend on sustained availability, competitive pricing, real-world range, charging convenience and ownership experience.
If it maintains this momentum, the Orbiter could become one of TVS Motor’s key electric products and help the company reach a wider group of family-scooter buyers across India.
