Tesla is stepping up its India push ahead of the festive season with a new finance-led promotion for the Model Y. The company’s advertisement asks customers to order soon for delivery before Diwali, highlighting a starting EMI of ₹39,900 with a down payment of ₹6,00,000.
The campaign makes Tesla’s electric SUV look more accessible on a monthly-payment basis, but buyers should pay close attention to the asterisk attached to the advertised EMI. The final repayment amount can vary with the chosen variant, lender approval, loan tenure, interest rate, step-up structure and any balloon or residual payment.
Tesla Model Y Diwali offer at a glance
- Advertised EMI: from ₹39,900 per month*
- Down payment: ₹6,00,000
- Delivery message: order soon for delivery before Diwali
- Model: Tesla Model Y
- Booking: through Tesla’s official India sales channels
- Conditions: subject to lender eligibility, finance structure, vehicle availability and delivery location
Tesla currently lists the Model Y in India from ₹50.89 lakh before registration, insurance and other on-road charges. The lower advertised monthly instalment therefore should not be read as a conventional flat EMI calculated only from the vehicle price and down payment. Promotional finance plans may use longer tenures, step-up instalments or a substantial final payment to reduce the starting monthly outgo.
What buyers should confirm before paying
Customers interested in taking delivery before Diwali should request a complete written loan schedule. It should clearly show the interest rate, total tenure, every monthly instalment, processing fees, insurance cost, prepayment conditions and any balloon payment due at the end.
Buyers should also ask Tesla to confirm the estimated delivery date for their chosen colour, wheels, interior and variant. “Order soon” is not the same as a guaranteed Diwali handover; allocation, registration, financing and logistics can affect the final date.
A useful comparison is the total amount payable over the entire loan—not only the first EMI. Add the ₹6 lakh down payment, all instalments, finance charges, fees and any final payment. This gives the true acquisition cost and makes it easier to compare the Tesla plan with a regular bank loan.
Model Y remains Tesla’s key India product
The Model Y is Tesla’s electric crossover and the brand’s main offering in India. The range includes a rear-wheel-drive version as well as a higher-specification Model Y L Premium AWD listed on BestEV. Depending on the version, customers get a minimalist cabin, connected software, over-the-air updates, a panoramic glass roof and access to DC fast charging.
For festive-season buyers, the appeal of the new promotion is the smaller initial monthly commitment. However, affordability depends on the complete repayment plan and not just the headline figure.
Should you book now?
The offer may be relevant for customers already planning to buy a premium electric SUV and aiming for a pre-Diwali delivery. Before confirming an order, buyers should obtain the final on-road quotation and lender-issued repayment schedule, verify whether the ₹39,900 figure applies to their selected configuration, and get the delivery estimate in writing.
The advertised EMI is indicative and subject to finance approval, lender terms, selected vehicle, tenure, fees and other conditions. Prices and offers may change without notice. Buyers should verify the latest details directly with Tesla India before booking.
