JSW MG Motor India Launches EV Savings Calculator Online

JSW MG Motor India has launched an online EV savings calculator that estimates five-year ownership savings of ₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh when switching from petrol or diesel. The tool also factors in MG's guaranteed buyback programme for resale protection.

JSW MG Motor India has launched an online EV savings calculator on its official website. The tool estimates how much a buyer can save over five years by switching from a petrol or diesel car to an electric vehicle.

What the Tool Does

The calculator compares the total ownership cost of a petrol or diesel vehicle with an electric car. It asks users for simple inputs such as fuel price, real-world mileage, monthly driving distance, and electricity rate.

Based on these inputs, MG shows an indicative five-year ownership benefit of ₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh with an MG EV. The company clearly states these are estimates, not guaranteed figures.

Key Features

The tool breaks savings into clear heads: purchase price difference, fuel versus charging cost, maintenance (assumed 30% lower for EVs), insurance, and resale value.

It also includes MG's guaranteed buyback estimator. Under this programme, MG commits to buying back an EV at a fixed percentage of the ex-showroom price: 60% on the 3-year plan, 50% on the 4-year plan, and 40% on the 5-year plan.

Who Can Use It

The calculator is live on MG's India website and works for popular models like the Windsor EV, Comet EV, and ZS EV. Users enter details such as on-road price, fuel cost per litre, and monthly running to get a personalised estimate.

A full report can be downloaded after verifying a mobile number with an OTP. Users must also select a car model and pincode.

Why It Matters for Indian Buyers

Rising fuel prices and lower running costs are the biggest arguments for EVs in India. This tool puts actual numbers in front of buyers instead of vague claims.

The buyback angle is important too. Resale value remains a major worry for Indian EV buyers. A guaranteed buyback reduces that risk, though MG notes it is a third-party policy with conditions on total kilometres driven and vehicle condition.

MG has also added clear disclaimers. The company says actual savings may vary with driving habits, charging patterns, electricity tariffs, and regulatory changes. The tool is for illustration only and is not financial advice.

What to Expect Next

Buyers can use the calculator to compare models before booking a test drive. As electricity tariffs and fuel prices shift, the estimates will change with the inputs. Indian EV shoppers now have one more free tool to check if an electric car truly suits their budget.
