Hyundai CRETA Electric Gets 60% Assured Buyback for 3 Years
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has launched an Assured Buyback Program for the CRETA Electric. Buyers will get 60% assured buyback value for up to 3 years or 45,000 km.
What Happened
The announcement was made in Gurugram on August 4, 2026. The scheme targets the biggest worry of Indian EV buyers: resale value. Hyundai says the program gives customers financial certainty and peace of mind.
Mr. Tarun Garg, MD & CEO of HMIL, said the next phase of EV adoption in India will depend on both technology and customer confidence. He added that the buyback offer reflects Hyundai's faith in the product's quality and long-term value.
CRETA Electric: Key Specs
The CRETA Electric comes with two battery options. The 51.4 kWh long-range pack delivers an ARAI-certified range of 510 km, while the 42 kWh standard pack offers 420 km.
DC fast charging takes the battery from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes. The long-range version does 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Digital Key, Level 2 ADAS via Hyundai SmartSense, and a Side Foot Step.
Broader EV Ecosystem
The buyback program joins Hyundai's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. Under BaaS, the CRETA Electric starts at ₹10.99 lakhs, with battery EMI from ₹3.9 per kilometre. This lowers the upfront cost for buyers.
On charging, the myHyundai app gives access to over 30,000 charging points across India. Hyundai has also set up 183 DC fast charging stations in 105 cities. The company plans to grow this network to 600 stations by 2030.
Why It Matters
Resale value remains a key barrier for Indian buyers moving to electric cars. A guaranteed 60% return after 3 years reduces this risk directly. For buyers comparing the CRETA Electric with other electric SUVs in India, this adds a strong financial safety net.
The move also shows how automakers are now competing on ownership experience, not just range or price. Assured buyback, BaaS and charging networks together aim to make EV ownership simpler for first-time electric car buyers.
What's Next
Hyundai says it will keep expanding its charging network and EV portfolio in India. Buyers can check full terms and conditions on the company's official website. BestEV.in will track how rival automakers respond with similar value-protection offers.
