Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has put up new 120 kW DC fast public charging points at important spots in New Delhi. The company announced the rollout on World EV Day, which fell on September 9, 2026. Statiq is the partner for this charging infrastructure in the capital.
Free Charging for Three Days
To mark the occasion, Hyundai is letting all its EV owners charge at no cost from September 9 to September 11, 2026. The offer applies at public charging stations owned by HMIL and needs a booking through the myHyundai app. The new Delhi chargers can also be reached via other popular charging apps.
Size of the Charging Network
At present, HMIL runs 185 DC fast-charging stations spread over 105 cities. The power output of these units varies between 60 kW and 240 kW. The carmaker wants its own network to reach 600 stations by 2030, covering major cities, highways and its dealerships.
Apart from its own points, the myHyundai app connects users to more than 38,000 chargers through tie-ups with several charge point operators. The app helps with finding stations, navigation, advance booking and digital payment. It is not restricted to Hyundai vehicles; EV owners of any brand can use it.
Training Dealership Staff
Hyundai is also readying its showrooms and workshops for electric vehicles. So far, over 10,000 sales staff have completed EV training, and the company wants this figure to cross 17,000 by the end of FY26-27.
On the service side, more than 2,600 dealership personnel are already trained for EV upkeep and repairs. Another 5,000 service staff are expected to be trained by the end of FY26-27. HMIL says it has completed roughly 16,000 person-days of EV service training and spent about ₹2 crore upgrading its training centres for electric vehicles. Its EV-ready workshops carry insulated tools, battery-handling trolleys and protective safety equipment.
Current and Upcoming EVs
Hyundai's electric line-up in India right now includes the IONIQ 5, sold in the premium space, and the CRETA Electric. The company has also indicated that a mass-market SUV EV, built on a dedicated EV platform and localised for India, will arrive shortly.
Bigger Targets Ahead
By the close of FY26-27, HMIL wants its EV-ready sales and service setup to cover 820 touchpoints and 650 workshops. The company notes that these plans and targets reflect current business expectations, and actual results could vary depending on market and regulatory conditions.
