Drivers of electric cars in India often need a different app for every charging network they use. A new platform called ChargeIndia wants to end that hassle. It has launched a mobile application that brings several public charging operators together under one roof.
What the App Offers
At launch, the platform lists more than 40 charge point operators (CPOs) and covers upwards of 1,200 cities across the country. Operators such as Statiq, ChargeMOD and ChargeZone are among the networks users can reach through it.
Using the app, a driver can look up nearby charging stations, see if a point is free, get navigation help, start a charging session and pay for it. Payments are made per session through UPI. This means there is no need to keep prepaid balances with each operator separately. The app can be downloaded on both Android and iOS devices.
Where Charging Stands in India
Public charging infrastructure in the country has grown at a fast pace. Figures from the Ministry of Heavy Industries show that India had 52,718 public charging stations as of July 2026, and 16,561 of these are fast chargers meant for cars.
Still, the sector is spread across many players. Each operator generally runs its own app and payment system, so drivers end up managing multiple accounts. The Ministry of Power has issued guidelines for charging infrastructure that touch on interoperability and connectivity, and platforms of this kind fit well with that policy direction.
Use Beyond the App
The company states that its technology is available to other businesses too. Car manufacturers, mobility companies and consumer apps can connect to many charging networks through the platform. This saves them from building a separate integration with every individual operator.
What to Watch
The real test for the platform will be how many operators and chargers it keeps adding, and how reliable its live availability information turns out to be. For now, it gives Indian EV owners a single, simpler door to a widening charging network.
