Hyundai's much-awaited sub-4 metre electric SUV has been spotted again, this time at a public charging station rated at 120kW. The sighting gives fresh clues about the compact EV that will sit below the Creta Electric in Hyundai India's line-up.
What Was Spotted
The test mule was seen plugged in at a charging bay with a 120kW rating. However, the SUV's actual peak charging intake was not confirmed during the sighting. Battery capacity and full charging specifications are still under wraps.
The compact SUV carries rubber flaps over its AC and DC charging ports to protect them from water ingress — a practical touch for Indian monsoon conditions. The DRL pattern looks similar to what was seen in an earlier sighting.
Design and Features Clues
This time, the camouflage offered a glimpse of the headlamp elements through the mesh. The mule appears to carry different headlight housings, which could point to prototyping stages or separate designs across variants.
Earlier sightings revealed a lane-keep assist camera and a preview of the Pleos Connect infotainment system. The centre screen on this system is expected to measure 17 inches. Features such as a panoramic glass roof and seat ventilation are also expected.
Built as a Ground-Up EV
The SUV will be a ground-up electric vehicle, not a converted petrol model. This should translate into better packaging and more cabin space. It is likely to be positioned below the Creta Electric in the brand's portfolio.
The battery is expected to be a high-density NMC unit with cells developed in-house. It is not yet clear whether the chemistry will be pure NMC or mid-nickel NMC. That detail will emerge closer to launch.
Why It Matters for Indian Buyers
Hyundai has claimed the NMC pack will offer longevity similar to an LFP battery. If that holds, the pack could also qualify for lifetime warranty coverage — a big reassurance for buyers worried about battery life.
The sub-compact EV space is heating up in India, and this Hyundai could take on rivals in the ₹12 lakh to ₹17.5 lakh bracket. A locally produced battery should also help keep costs in check.
