India recorded **35,948 electric passenger vehicle registrations in September 2026**, a reported monthly record. Volumes increased **94% year on year**, while electric vehicles accounted for **8.3%** of passenger vehicle registrations.

## September EV registrations: top five manufacturers

Tata retained first place with around 41% of the electric passenger vehicle market. Mahindra followed with 21.5%, putting their combined share close to 63%.

VinFast held fourth position, while Kia completed the top five.

## H1 FY27 approaches two lakh registrations

April-September 2026 registrations totalled **1,91,751**, up **89%** from the corresponding period a year earlier.
