Mercedes-Benz's CLA Electric has attracted more than 1,000 confirmed orders in India, with limited vehicle availability pushing some deliveries into March 2027. Buyers face waiting periods of up to six months, according to the company's latest sales update.

## CLA Electric demand outpaces supply

The order book highlights interest in Mercedes-Benz's electric sedan, particularly among younger luxury customers. However, confirmed orders represent vehicles customers intend to buy; they should not be counted as completed sales or deliveries.

Mercedes-Benz says availability is restricting its electric vehicle business. For prospective buyers, the immediate implication is a longer wait, making a dealer-confirmed allocation and delivery estimate important before planning a purchase.

## Mercedes-Benz EV sales rise 16%

The brand's battery electric vehicle sales increased 16% during January-September 2026 despite supply constraints. Its overall India sales reached 15,190 vehicles in the same period, an increase of around 8% year on year.

Third-quarter sales stood at 5,422 units, up 6% from the corresponding quarter of 2025. These overall figures include the company's wider vehicle portfolio, rather than electric models alone.

## EV share could reach 20-25% in 2027

Mercedes-Benz expects electric vehicles to account for 20-25% of its India sales next year if supplies improve. This is a conditional outlook, rather than an achieved market share.

The company has also opened bookings for the GLC Electric ahead of its scheduled India launch on November 4, 2026, adding another model to its electric push.
