The design of JSW Motors' forthcoming electric SUV has been patented in India. The vehicle is based on the Chery iCaur V23 and is tipped to be sold here as an electric off-roader.
Exterior Changes Spotted
The patent drawings, dated September 16, 2026, show that the India-bound version stays close to the global model's boxy silhouette. Circular LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, black surrounds, side steps and flared wheel arches all carry over.
A few tweaks stand out. The blanked-off grille gets a fresh look, and the alloys feature a new design. A rectangular panel between the C- and D-pillars also appears in the drawings; this detail is missing on the overseas version. Another addition is a panoramic sunroof, which the global model does not get. The rear end is unchanged, with slim LED tail-lamps and a storage box mounted on the tailgate.
Cabin Details
The interior is likely to mirror the international car. It has a simple dashboard with no separate instrument cluster, so all driving information shows up on a 15.4-inch touchscreen. Buyers get a five-seat layout, a three-spoke steering wheel with buttons, and rotary dials under the screen for drive modes, audio and climate functions. Leatherette upholstery is part of the package, and the India version may get a new theme and seat trim.
Powertrain Expectations
Globally, the iCaur V23 is sold with two battery sizes: 59.93kWh and 81.76kWh. The larger pack comes with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 208hp and 292Nm, with an NEDC-claimed range of 430km. Reports indicate the India-spec model may adopt this dual-motor AWD arrangement.
Rivals and Pricing
JSW Motors is expected to place the SUV against the Mahindra Thar Roxx and the Force Gurkha 5-door, with a price tag of roughly Rs 20 lakh. If launched, it would give buyers a zero-emission option in a space currently dominated by petrol and diesel off-roaders.
