# India's Electric Scooter Exports Rise to 15,418 Units in April-August 2026

India exported **15,418 electric scooters between April and August 2026**, compared with 2,807 in the same five months of 2025. That is an increase of 12,611 units, or about **449% year on year**. The period covers the first five months of FY2027, and the figures describe manufacturer export shipments, not overseas retail registrations.

Electric scooters remain a small part of India's wider scooter export business. Of the 358,993 scooters shipped abroad across all powertrains during the period, roughly 4.3% were electric. Even so, the five-month EV tally has already exceeded the 8,698 electric scooters exported in the entire previous financial year.

## TVS leads, with Bajaj and Ather close behind

The three largest exporters shipped 15,093 scooters between them, accounting for **about 98%** of the total. TVS sent 5,738 iQubes and 964 Orbiters overseas. Bajaj shipped 4,818 Chetaks. Ather's 3,573 units comprised 1,874 scooters from the 450 series and 1,699 Riztas.

The remaining 325 units came from smaller export programmes: 169 Ampere scooters, 135 Vida scooters, 18 River Indies and three Honda Activa e: units. These early volumes show that overseas sales are concentrated among a few established brands rather than spread evenly across the Indian EV market.

## August shows the momentum continuing

Exports reached 3,575 electric scooters in August alone, following 3,371 in July and 4,135 in June. TVS accounted for 1,930 of August's exports: 966 iQubes and 964 Orbiters. Bajaj shipped 832 Chetaks during the month.

Nepal and Sri Lanka are important destinations for Indian electric scooter makers. Building sales and service networks there matters as much as shipping the first batch: owners need dependable parts, warranty support and charging options for these exports to become a sustained business.

The growth rate also needs context. April-August 2025 had a low base of 2,807 units, so a large percentage increase does not yet mean electric models dominate scooter exports. The more useful measures to track over the rest of FY2027 are monthly shipment consistency, expansion beyond the leading three manufacturers and electric scooters' share of total scooter exports.
